EL JARDIN
EXPORTING PORTLAND'S "GREEN" KNOWLEDGE
Jardin Portland will incorporate 3 distinct phases of development, beginning with the dedication of the Phase One Rose Garden on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, 2008 (click here to learn more about how you can support the Jardin with our Rose in Guadalajara Valentine’s Day fundraiser).
The Jardin is slated for completion in 2011, concurrent with the Pan American Games, to be held in Guadalajara that year. The Jardin will highlight Portland internationally as a leader in environmental best practices, and will include as one of its major features the Verde Learning Center, which will be dedicated to educating the public about sustainable building and gardening practices. The park will also feature replicas of some of the Portland region’s most cherished regional features, including a mini Multnomah Falls and an amphitheater modeled after Pioneer Square. It will also showcase original works by Portland artists.
More detail is coming soon related to specific timelines and features for each of the park’s three phases. In the meantime, check out some photos of the park as it is today and some “before and after” renderings of the planned design features.
